The founding of English colonies in modern Massachusetts combined a strange mix of idealism and violence. Miles Standish contributed important protection to the early colonies by using violence. Benjamin Church provided vital leadership to protect the colonies during King Philip's War. Despite all of this violence, the colonies were also founded on religious idealism. It is important to understand the full history of these areas because this is what Americans generally consider to be our nation's beginning.
Miles Standish contributed important protection to the early colonies by using violence. For example He rushed into peoples wigwams [house] and tried to attack them, as the families would try to excape, they would try to jump through the walls. Also miles had a knife around his kneck, it had a males face on it, he told witwomat he was going to marry his other knife with the womens head on it, which mean that he would kill him, and so he did. After that he placed his head on the walls of the town. Then he hung wituwomats brother. After looking over this it comes to show that he is more than vilent and has no problem with making people a shrine in the town.
Benjamin Church provided vital leadership to protect the colonies during King Philip's War. After church organized everything, these troops tracked Indians into the forests and swamps and ambushes on their camps, then captured them. Also he had made up the plan to kill king Phillip. In two months Church had brought in a total of seven hundred indians. Benjamin was deffinitly a good leader and did what needed to be done at all times, thats what made him so great to everyone.
Despite all of this violence, the colonies were also founded on religious idealism. The pilgrams came over to grow crops and build homes. Also they thought it would be a better place to be able to come and pray and not be judged. Another reason would be for public education for everyone, they were very strong believers of education. After all this was deffinitly i good cause for all of them and it ended up having its different benefits.
It is important to understand the full history of these areas because this is what Americans generally consider to be our nation's beginning. I believe that this is all very important, if it wasn't for our history we would have nothing, it's whats made us what we are today. We have strong, educational, understanding, goverment, a lttle bit of everything, which makes us great as a nation.
